I've bought myself a new toy a John Deere 3650 which my father has owned for the last 10 years. Its a very tidy tractor with new tyres which I have put into semi retirement. Last summer the air con was not working as good as it used to so we have decided to give it an overhaul. The compressor was leaking out of the front shaft seal so bit the bullet and ordered a new compressor, evaporator, dryer and expansion valve. Paper work with the compressor suggests that I use the oil quantity and grade as according to vehicle manufacture here's the problem I haven't got this information. Anyone with a work shop manual??

I would also expect the original fill to be R12. You are doing the right thing replacing the TXV, drier and compressor, however you will need to flush the evap and condenser before a recharge of R134a.

Change ALL the O-rings to 134a green spec. PAG 100 will then be fine, but ask the comp supplier how much to charge the compressor with, and the rest of the system. I would guess 3-400ml but check first. Vac it for an hour at least then check it holds over night before charging- approx 80% of that for R12 as a starting point.
